We put it out to our Instagram followers and asked what they wanted to see more of in our blogs. One of the most requested blogs was "Wedding Trends". With wedding season in full swing, we thought we would look at the current trends which majority we LOVE!
POPS OF COLOUR
We have started to see pops of colour coming through in 2019/20 through the use of florals, place cards, wine bars, bridesmaid dresses.. well, everywhere really. We LOVE the idea of having them around and making them stay!
Weddings for so long have been the classic 2 primary colours or complimentary shades shown throughout the ceremony, reception, groomsmen suits, bouquets and bridesmaid dresses – don't get us wrong, the traditional approach is still a classic although shaking it up makes things that little more exciting. The varying colour pops make us so happy and brings a new life and freshness to the wedding industry. Some ways we think you can incorporate it in your day:
Finding a strong favourite colour (think orange, yellow, blue, purple..) and utilise it in some of your key spaces ie tables, bouquet, arbour, tablescapes.
Pinterest and instagram the crap out of styling pages and find the ideas you love!
Have a feature during the day dedicated to that pop of colour
Meet with a stylist to discuss how they may be able to assist to bring your imagination to life
Think outside the box! World is your oyster!
BREAKING TRADITIONS
This one pretty much sums itself up although if you REALLY want our opinion - head to our blog about it. We LOVE that couples are branching out and doing what they want on their day and not worrying about what the “should” and “shouldn’t” be doing. Examples:
Bridesmaid Dresses - Gone are the days of matching colour, matching style and matching hair bridesmaids – 2019 has brought in the trend of a more relaxed approach which is effortlessly beautiful! The free, fun loving and honestly liberating approach has us soooooo in love!
Wedding “Dresses”o Brides in suits, jumpsuits, couture gowns, skirt and top.. any combination that isn’t your classic gown. Body love is at an all time high and a wedding dress shouldn’t hold you back! If you want to rock a crop and high waisted pants – go for it!
From walking yourself down the aisle to walking down as a couple - we love changing it up and encompassing all of the loved ones you can to make your day as special as you had hoped
We love our sit down receptions with 3 course meals but how amazing to see the reception taking all sorts of turns including on a boat, on a private farm and a heap of imaginative solutions - we've even seen a mini festival!
ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS
As the world turns towards a more environmentally conscious view in order to save our planet, we can see weddings following through. Less plastic, paper and waste, more florals, nature and reused items. A couple of simple ways you can contribute for you wedding:
Hire items instead of buying them new
Reuse items you have around the house or rubbish you may have thrown
Keep all beer and wine bottles to reuse for décor
Any furniture you may have which can be used for décor items ie: Chairs, plants, rattan furniture.
Have a “Plant a Tree” initiative, succulents or even seedlings as your wedding favours.
Dedicated recycling bins at your wedding (and you could even keep them to make 10c per container!
LIGHTING CREATIONS
We have seen some incredible light installations the past few months and cannot wait to see what is to come in the next 12 plus months. The rising number of outdoor weddings/creative venue choices means there is so much room for creativity when it comes to all things - especially lighting! It is the key to bringing the mood to the evening whether that be "PARTY, PARTY" or a romantic moody.

FLORALS, FLORALS, FLORALS
WE LOVE FLORALS!!!!
Sorry but truly, these will always be our favourite "trend". They are a beautiful part of all weddings, events, and life to be honest - Who doesn't love receiving a beautiful bunch for their birthday! They add colour, texture, life and all sorts of warm feelings!
We are however loving the creativity that has been popping up lately regards bouquets, hanging installations and arbours. Taking something classic and turning it on its head with colours that you wouldn't normally see and also in ways that haven't been a "norm". They create an art piece, not just an accessory.
Our favourites so far are below although we cannot wait to see more to come!
p.s We cannot stress enough how "worth it" florals can be - not only do they look beautiful on the day, are a natural product which goes back into the environment, but you get to have your house full of florals for the following week and guests can take them home as a thank you!
We hope to see more of our favourite trends, along with a whole heap of new ones! Whether we love them or maybe hope they don't come back, we cannot express how much we love wedding season and the excitement we have to see the beautiful days come to life!
