For a time where it should be fun with the girls (and guys if you have a bridesman) to go and search for the bridesmaid dresses, along with a way to connect with each other over a few wines and celebrate such an exciting time as the team you are! Everyone has their own ideas of what they want for their colour pallet, dress style, shape of dress and budget but we have a few things we want to make note of to maybe help you out or spark your mind to open up to other ideas when it comes to your bridesmaids!
Figures
Now, we don't mean money figures because we do understand that is on your mind, but we mean our bodies! Not everyone has a model like figure you see in most bridal wear magazines and Instagram pages, we can probably guarantee your bridesmaids didn’t just walk off the runway (and if they did we would love their gym routine!).This in mind, absolutely every body is beautiful and we need to embrace this when it comes to finding your bridesmaids their perfect dresses too!
Have you thought about the dresses or outfits you dream of and how they’re going to suit your bridesmaids? Are your bridesmaids going to feel comfortable in their figure hugging dress? It’s probably one of the funnest times searching for dresses with your gals (and bridesmen) so why not take a minute to take the pressure off you and enjoy what they want and think works for them? They may even have some great ideas!
We LOVE the idea of having the colour palette the same although different style dresses, even having elements of the wedding come together with different coloured and different style dresses - have fun with it! Some of our current favourites are:

Who pays for them?
We completely understand everyone’s budget is different and there are things that you as a couple decide you can and cannot afford to spend money on. For us though, we don't think that expecting your bridesmaids to pay for the exact dress you want is really the best idea. If you have your heart set beautiful $300 gowns and ask your bridesmaids to pay for that, along with their shoes, accessories, travel, accommodation - this becomes quite the expensive days for your closest as well. Our personal views are that you should at least have the converstaion wiht your bridesmaids to decipher what they can and cannot afford/pitch in with/how you can all work together. Even if you can only slightly help out your bridesmaids with the cost - especially if you have the one must have dress!
If your budget doesn’t allow the option of assisting the gals, we would suggest having an open conversation with them and seeing what ballpark price suits them and go from there! You never know, one of your maids may be struggling with work and only earning enough to pitch in $100! You all want to enjoy the day and have fun before it with your girls so please - have the conversation and get the money stress out of the way so you can go shopping!!
- The girls may have dresses already which work with your colour pallet
- Put your colour scheme out there, get the girls to find some dresses they love and come back together (over a cheeky beverage and pizza of course) and work out which you want to try!
- Decipher what you are pitching in for to allow the girls to figure out how much they can also pitch in - communication and collaboration is key!
Season
Just like your own dress, think about the season you’re getting married and how this May effect your dress decision. In winter you don’t want everyone to be freezing in a strappy or backless unless you have a jacket (again, who’s paying for it? How will it effect your aesthetic? Is it affordable? Is it an an avoidable cost?). Why not think outside the square with pant suits, long sleeves, boots..see some inspiration below!

Then in summer you don’t want something where the moment they sweat - you see it all! Summer is pretty unforgiving and when you have long lasting makeup, a full day of go go go.. there’s not much time for worrying about sweaty pits.
All in all, this day is such a special one for you and for your girls! They wouldn't be by your side if they weren't wholeheartedly there for you and excited for you and your partner in the next stages of life!
