Hot Tip #1 - Budgeting for Florals

If you’re anything like us, we would absolutely LOVE florals everywhere and anywhere! The smell of fresh flowers, the colours, the textures and just the absolute joy you feel being surrounded by these beautiful creations is irreplaceable! . BUT! Most people we’ve met haven’t thought of the cost involved with floral arrangement, or they’ve received a quote and think “what?! They’re just flowers”... We are here to say, the time and skill that goes into making such magnificent displays is absolutely worth the quote you’ve received. A) the flowers themselves are not cheap, even from an industry supplier. B) the fabulous people creating the arrangements have spent hours arranging along with spending time training and perfecting their trade. It’s almost like everything in life, if you want to pay $10 for an item that’s mostly $50, it’s going to be most likely sub par. .

A few tips we have below:

SEASON: Every flower has its blooming season. If you are getting married or hosting your event in Winter and expect to have Frangipani - you are going to be tough outta luck. Ensure you talk to your planner, florist or supplier BEFORE you start pinteresting a tonne of your favourite florals to see what you will be able to get for that particular season. There is no point dreaming and planning to have peonies if your event is in March - that just makes for disappointment and sad Peony envy. Trust those in the business to stear you to the right place - if you provide them with colours and styles you would like, they will be able to provide you with the types of flowers you should be looking for.

KEY PIECE: As we understand, not everyone has an endless budget to have florals all throughout their venue - WE WISH! One of our biggest hot tips in regards to florals for your event, especially if you are tight on the budget side of things, is to choose one element of your event which requires a key floral piece. Whether that be a hanging installation over the main table or a photo backdrop for promotion. Maybe the table centrepieces are where your focus lies. Wherever it may be, focus on that aspect and substitute the other aspects with affordable options. A few key thing to substitute are: Candles, fruit bunches (these can look really cool!), material bunched, branches, leaves, fairy lights... many many options!

BUDGET: If an abundance of florals is a MUST HAVE (BUDGET post to come :)), then you need to understand these will be quite a hefty segment of your budget. A bouquet alone can cost approximately $250, a floralised arbour can be upwards of $300, 80 person wedding worth of centrepieces can be around $20pp - florals are not cheap and the misconception that they "should be" is something that needs to be revised. Many man hours go into finding the right flowers, pulling leaves off, cutting correctly, arranging, keeping fresh and delivering flowers - the money you spend is absolutely worth it!
